 - Is injection molding additive manufacturing?

No, injection molding is not additive manufacturing. These are two distinct manufacturing processes with different approaches to creating parts.
Process Type: Injection molding is a formative process where molten material (like plastic or metal) is injected into a pre-made mold under high pressure, then cooled to solidify into the final shape. It shapes the material as a whole rather than building it up incrementally.
Additive Manufacturing (e.g., 3D Printing): This builds parts layer by layer from a digital model, adding material sequentially to form the object—hence the "additive" name.
When to Use Each:

Injection molding excels in efficiency for uniform, high-quality parts, while additive manufacturing offers innovation for one-offs or rapid testing. They often complement each other, like using 3D printing to prototype before molding at scale.
